Presentation Overview
This presentation provides an overview of the Washington Physicians Health Program (WPHP) and the services it offers to support the healthcare community across Washington state by Chris Bundy, MD, MPH, FAPA, FASAM, Executive Medical Director of WPHP. During this one-hour session, Dr. Bundy also examines impairment—how it is defined, how it presents, and how to effectively address it. This educational activity is available for free Continuing Medical Education Credit (CME).
Learning Objectives
By the end of the presentation, learners should:
- Define impairment as it applies to health professionals including the ethical and legal obligations for responding to concerns of impairment.
- Identify signs of impairment in health professionals and barriers to effectively addressing concerns of impairment.
- Describe the process by which WPHP assists health professionals with concerns of impairment and the basis for effective advocacy that balances public trust and the need to protect patient safety with the rehabilitative needs of health professionals.
- State at least three outcomes that demonstrate WPHP’s effectiveness and/or the benefits of program participation.

Continuing Medical Education Credit (CME)

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by CineMed and Washington Physicians Health Program. CineMed is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
Physicians: CineMed designates this enduring material for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Nurses: This activity provides 1 contact hour for nurses.
Oral Health Professionals: CineMed is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider (January 1 – December 31, 2026). ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education. ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry.
CineMed designates this activity for 1 continuing education credit.
Other Healthcare Professionals: All other healthcare professionals will receive a Certificate of Participation. For information on the applicability and acceptance of Certificates of Participation for activities designated for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™, consult your professional licensing board.
