The Washington Physicians Health Program (WPHP) recently attended the 2025 American Medical Association (AMA) Interim Meeting of the House of Delegates from November 14-18, 2025. Over 700 healthcare professionals, policymakers, and advocates from across the nation gathered in National Harbor, Md., to address emerging issues impacting the medical workforce.
At the meeting, Chris Bundy, MD, MPH, FAPA, FASAM, WPHP Executive Medical Director, met with Heather Farley, MD, MHCDS, AMA Vice President of Professional Satisfaction, and Michael Tutty, PhD, MHA, AMA Group Vice President of Professional Satisfaction and Practice Sustainability, to discuss integrating collaboration with Physician Health Programs (PHPs) into the AMA Joy in Medicine Program criteria. This program empowers health systems to reduce burnout so that physicians and their patients can thrive and recognizes health systems that meet their standards for physician well-being.
Another highlight of the meeting was speaking with Dinah Goldenberg, AMA Alliance President-Elect. The AMA Alliance is the nation’s largest organization supporting the families of physicians. Many of the health conditions WPHP supports its program participants with have family impacts and require support. WPHP’s partnership with the AMA Alliance helps us connect participant family members with the community and resources they need.
This meeting provided a valuable opportunity for WPHP to convene with colleagues from the Washington Medical Commission delegation, Jean Branscum, Montana Medical Association CEO & Executive Vice President, Amy Reynoldson, Nebraska Medical Association Executive Vice President, and the Wisconsin Medical Society delegation, who is working to establish the Wisconsin Healthcare Professional Services Program.
WPHP is grateful for the connections we established and strengthened and the insights we have gained at the AMA Interim Meeting of the House of Delegates. We look forward to applying what we have learned to strengthen our support of the Washington medical community.
