WPHP’s Executive Medical Director, Chris Bundy, MD, MPH, FAPA, FASAM, has been elected as one of four new directors to the Physicians Insurance A Mutual Company Board.

For over 40 years, Physicians Insurance has been a trusted partner, healthcare advocate, and a premier provider for professional liability insurance to the healthcare community. The Physicians Insurance Board of Directors has played a significant role in the company’s continued success.

“Their expertise, experience, and leadership will be invaluable as we continue in our shared purpose of protecting, defending, and supporting our Members,” said William Cotter, President and CEO, Physicians Insurance, on welcoming the new directors. “By ensuring strong physician and industry representation on our Board, we remain steadfast in our commitment to being physician-focused and true to who we are—a mutual company founded by physicians, for physicians, and owned by our Member physicians.”

Dr. Bundy has earned a national reputation for his expertise in physician health and is a tireless advocate for initiatives to improve physician health and well-being. He draws on his extensive experience as a healthcare leader and medical educator to support efforts related to physician health and patient safety, which he will also utilize to support the Physicians Insurance mission.

Dr. Bundy is board certified in adult and geriatric psychiatry and addiction medicine. In addition to his role at WPHP, where he is responsible for WPHP’s clinical operations along with leading outreach and education efforts, Dr. Bundy holds academic positions as Clinical Professor at the University of Washington School of Medicine and Clinical Associate Professor at the Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine. He is also Chief Medical Officer of the Federation of State Physician Health Programs. In 2021, Dr. Bundy was honored with the Washington State Medical Association President’s Unsung Hero Award, and in 2025, he received the Presidential Recognition Award from the Federation of State Physician Health Programs.
