About WPHPAbout WPHP

The Washington Physicians Health Program was founded in 1986 by a group of concerned members of the Washington State Medical Association who represented the “Committee on Personal Problems of Physicians”.

WPHP is available to address concerns of anyone at anytime.

History

The WSMA initially established the “Washington Monitored Treatment Program” with both the legislative and financial foundation to function as an independent, not for profit, organization.

In 1993, Lynn R. Hankes, MD was appointed as the Medical Director and the name was changed to the “Washington Physicians Health Program”.  The Washington Physicians Health Program became one of the model programs in the country under the direction of Dr. Hankes from 1993 to 2006.

In April of 2006, Michael R. Oreskovich, MD succeeded Lynn R. Hankes, MD as the Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer.
